Statement

Objects from nature – natural ephemera – often retain beauty, form, elegance long after they’ve served their original purpose. I try to re-present these objects, give them new life, elevate them.
In figurative work, there’s a back story. There’s always a back story. I would ask the viewer to create one of their own.
Portraits give joy to the loved ones of the portrayed. That’s why I do them.
I’m not a full time painter; there would be a lot more work here (I would hope) if I was. It’s one of my favorite day dreams, painting full time, but I’m well aware that my day dream is nowhere near the reality of making paintings as a living. But I paint as often as I can. I love the ever-developing discipline of it.
That’s where I am right now, here in 2012. I’m forever grateful to those who love me toward painting on.
